Waec conducts exam in Chibok six years after abduction of school girls

West African Examination Council has successfully conducted her examination , in Chibok Local Government for the first time in six years

Since the abduction of 200 girls from the Government Girl’s secondary school in Chibok Local Government, schools in the Local Government were shut down by the Government due to insurgency.

The Government Girl’s secondary school in Chibok has now been converted into a mixed school(for both boys and girls). Six years after shutting down the school, it has now been re-opened and conducted her first WASSCE examination in six years.
The incident which led to the formation of an activist group named Bring Back Our Girls (BBOG), the incident which was a very tragic one then as over 219 girls were kidnapped from school. Out of 219 girls kidnapped , 107 girls have been successfully rescued after series of combat and negotiations with the militant group Boko Haram.

112 girls are still held captive in custody of Boko Haram and the Government and the military are trying their possible best to free them from the hands of Boko Haram.

According to sources it has been revealed that the insurgency conflict was as a result of the detest of education by Boko Haram and this hatred for education had great impact on Education in the North East as many schools were shut down due to insurgency.

It has also been reported that 70% of schools in that region are being occupied by soldiers due to past abduction of students. Efforts towards the re-opening of schools are being commended because when education is under siege no nation can grow without education. Schools in the North east can now used as military bases in time of extreme conflicts situations. This new camping strategy has led to the re-opening of schools by the military.
